This is the place where we'll be getting all nostalgic. Discussing bands and venues that bit the dust. We'll share some stories, some music, some pictures. So if you remember how Miami used to be, come along with me as we go into the way back machine....

My old drumset (circa 1997)

I first heard this song on One Step Beyond and I'll never ever get sick of hearing it. It's one of my favorite songs of all time.

My friend Guido shared these old pics with me...

This one is a gem in my opinion. Its Gainsville ska band The Know How playing at Kaffe Krystal in Kendall!! Kaffe Krystal is still there but unfortunately they don't let bands play anymore. Fun fact: the drummer from The Know How, Bryan (Peanut), was the drummer in a much smaller and lesser known band called The Peckers. I have 2 songs from them that I recorded from WVUM and they're fucking awesome! I wish they had done more. Or than I could find anything on them. Or that I had seen them play! lol. The two songs I have are "We  Are The Peckers" and "Lover Come Back To Me" which is a swinging Billie Holiday cover. I thought those guys were great. Also the trumpet or trombone player Danny something....kind of a tool from what I remember. He did give me a trombone. I don't think it was his. The guy who owned it painted or attempted to paint it white and black checkerboard and i think it messed with the sound. I never did learn how to play that thing. Anyway Peanut was a cool dude. Haha I always have one person in a band that I like and one I don't.

If I ever get my damn tapes transferred to digital, I'll put those Peckers songs on here.

Going Nowhere

Wow!! Do you remember these guys?! The guys who hosted One Step Beyond on WVUM formed a band called Going Nowhere. I remember seeing them at Roses with The Groovenics. How's that for a blast from the past? Anyway they were fun. But apparently they got quite a following because they stayed together for 5 yrs and even toured the northeast. Really?? Were you guys fans of Going Nowhere? I stumbled on this article and I gotta say it gave me the chuckles. I mean...really? I'm not gonna lie to you guys. Mark (the drummer) was of course the shit. I still think he's the shit and always will be. But Dan, the singer, omg what a first class douche bag! Man he was an arrogant fuck. I wonder if he found what he was looking for with his other band. I couldn't find anything on them. Hopefully he ended up putting that UM degree to good use.

Old flyers I found. Most of the cool flyers from back then were taped up to my door and didn't survive when I moved out. I found these in an old scrapbook.

If I can find the time to transfer my old tapes to digital I'm gonna post some old stuff. I really need to do that.
